Honors and Awards

Sincere appreciation to the below mentioned organizations for recognizing the value of Karaghen's visual expression in the arts.

 

2014

  • Illustration completed under the Disease Biophysics Group is being published as the inside front cover of issue 20 Lab on a Chip

  • Organs-on-chips concept image published with the Disease Biophysics on the inside back cover in issue 17 of Lab on a Chip

  • Awarded the 2014 Rhode Island School of Design Annual Art Award for Berkeley Preparatory School 

  • As the highest ranking scholar, received Berkeley Preparatory School's Advanced Art Book Award for a second time

  • Designed Berkeley's Class of 2014 shirts, Senior Day shirts, and the dvd cover of the class video

  • Re-created the Disease Biophysics Group Logo that was printed on sweatshirts given out to lab members and VIP guests on the 2014 DBG Retreat in Woods Hole, MA 

  • In Berkeley Preparatory's over fifty year-old history, had the first one-woman student show in the Pautler Gallery in Tampa, FL 

2013

  • Four pieces of artwork displayed at the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art at St. Petersburg College in Tarpon Springs, FL

  • Acrylic painting auctioned off for $1,000 on October 19th at the Berkeley Open to raise funds for student scholarships

  • Recognized with two Gold Key and three Honorable Mention awards for artwork entered into the Scholastic Art &Writing Awards, Southeast Region-at-Large

  • Published an artist statement and images of works in the March edition of tb-two*, a newspaper published by the Tampa Bay Times

  • Selected to have drawing shown in the 2013 14th Congressional District & Next Generation High School Art Exhibition at the Tampa Museum of Art

  • Displayed three pieces in the juried 2013 High School Arts Show at the University of Tampa

  • As the highest ranking scholar, received Berkeley Preparatory School's Advanced Art Book Award

  • Created the shirt design for the 2013 National Conference on Peer Writing in Tampa, FL 

 

2012

  • Awarded Third Place in water-based mediums in the 2012 U.S. Congressional Art Competition; piece was displayed in the Tampa Museum of Art; awarded $150 dollars in prize money

  • Painted four golf flags for the Berkeley Open Golf Tournament, one was selected for the President of 5/3 Bank

  • Three pieces (acrylic painting, water color, mixed media) displayed at the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art at St. Petersburg College in Tarpon Springs, FL

 

2011

  • Received Berkeley Preparatory School's Media Book Award for being the overall highest ranking scholar

  • Appointed to design Class Bulletin Board by Student Forum faculty advisor

 

2010

  • Designed and led a committee to create the Class of 2014 Banner for Berkeley Preparatory School, which is shown during graduations and honors ceremonies
